Competition Team

Otieno Martial Art Center is proud of our competition team. They have been training very hard and developing their skills.  We are currently looking for a nice tournament to introduce them to serious competition.
They are all very eager and ready to go. They are all juniors but we are also putting together an adult team. We need a couple more serious adults to round out the team. We hope to have lined something up in the next month.  Let's see what happens, Go team!

Tee Shirts are in!

We would be shouting  "The Tee shirts are comming!" but they ARE ALREADY HERE! And going fast.
I have to repeat that.. Going fast. Get yours while the supply last. (Yes we are ordering more.)
The Tee shirt is Navy Blue with the Otieno school logo on the back in white. The tee shirt is the official alternate uniform top for summer wear. No other tee shirt will be allowed. You must wear your standard TKD uniform if you do not have a tee shirt. The Tee shirt is pretty smart looking and can be worn anywhere so you can show your pride in the school and your training.

Tuition Payments

This is just a reminder to all students and parents that monthly tuition payments are due on the FIRST CLASS of each month. Please pay your tuition on time as we need to pay for our rent and utilities too.

Friday is Sparring Day!

Every Friday is Sparring day. Students should come to class prepared to fight. That means abring all you sparring gear: helmets, hogu, shin and arm guards. Don't forget you mouth (teeth) guards.
Come prepared and have fun!  Saturday Morning is for those selected for the competition team. But, everyone should come to their class on Friday.

Resolutions

Remember those New Year Resolutions? Yes, the ones where you were going to exersise more and get fit?
You wanted to trim those abs and lose a little weight? Well now is the time. Come on down to the Otieno School and take up some cardio kickboxing or taekwondo.  We are putting together new and exciting (and inexpensive!) programs to help you achieve your goals.

Don't let those New Year Resolutions end up like last years! Join us, lose weight, get fit, and have some fun!

Grading Exam scheduled

A Grading Exam is currently scheduled for Saturday, March 13th at 10 AM. All students that have sufficient time in grade may request to be examined. Students who choose not to test should attend to observe the proceedings and learn from the process. Parents, family members and friends are encouraged to observe as this is a significant milestone in a students progress. The public is also welcome to visit and see what is going on.

New space renovations

We've moved into the new space and already had a few classes. However the dreary paint needed something to be done. So we organized a "Painting Party" to correct this. Painting was done at the school this evening. We tackled the task with the help of students and got the primer coat on in under 3 hours. The hard part was taping everything and doing all the edging. One that was done the rolling went pretty fast. We will complete the painting later this week with the finish coat. We did a bit of celebrating with pizza and soda and yes there is an time-lapse video of the whole painting thing. Whether or not it will uploaded is yet to be determined.
